Former MLB All-Star Jason Dickson confirms his attendance
FMBA's President and Executive Director of FMBA Camps, Paul Hornibrook, announced today that All-Star shortstop and 1993 World Series Champion, Tony Fernandez will be the headline coach at this year's June 2012 baseball camp for kids ages 8-14. Tony won the World Series with the Toronto Blue Jays and was a four time Gold Glove award winner during his 17 year Major League career. The Camp week will also be highlighted with a fund raising and camp kickoff dinner on June 24th at Kingswood Lodge. Funds raised at the dinner will help support the TFFoundation, a foundation started by Tony to help underpriviledge kids in Dominican Republic, US and Canada.
Matt Stairs will be in Fredericton to do an autograph session Saturday November 19th from 1pm to 3pm at the Exhibition Grounds and is the special guest at the Annual Fredericton Sports Investment Dinner December 3rd.
The event is to support the local SPCA and Matt will be offering signed baseballs for a $5 donation to the SPCA and raffle tickets on the Matt Stairs collectables will be available for $2 each with $1 on each ticket going to the SPCA. This will be the first autograph session in Fredericton since our hometown hero retired from 19 years of Major League Baseball.

Helmets | Proceeds from Stairs evening help fund new minor baseball initiative
Paul Hornibrook hopes the new website for the Fredericton Minor Baseball Association generates a lot of hits

Hornibrook, the director at large in charge of fundraising for the local organization says the new site, frederictonminorbaseball.ca -- coming soon to a computer near you -- will be used as a communication tool for the organization. Teams in the various divisions will be able to post schedules and team pictures. There are driving directions to the fields in the Fredericton area, with links to weather.
Fredericton Minor Baseball is please to announce a new helmet policy that will follow other associations move to require all players to provide their own personal equipment. This would include, baseball shoes, glove and batting helmet. Teams will continue to be provided catching equipment and bats from FMBA. The Celebration of Success event honouring Matt Stairs held last November 2009 raised funds to help assist in providing helmets free of charge for this year and to help kick start the helmet program. Each helmet will have a commemorative sticker on them recognizing the Y's Men, FMBA, and Matt Stairs for a co-operative effort in raising funds for this program.
